Get to Know Someone in a Hurry
Dear readers,
I remember hearing people, especially couples, complain that they didn’t know “him/her” as well as they should’ve. Now, I’m no expert butt I’m pretty sure it’s important to know people around you unless you don’t want anything to do with them (no, duh!). This got me to thinking. What if people didn’t have the luxury of getting know a person…I mean really get to know someone? That would take a lot of time. So how do you get to know someone if you don’t have the time to be “BFF’s”, childhood friends, and partners-in-crime? Well, here are my suggestions…
WARNING! Some suggestions maybe hazardous to your health.
#1 : I am not called the Queen of Darkness for nothing. For my first suggestion, I find it very effective when you tie someone up and put them in a life threatening situation to get to know them. Fair warning, you may find out more than you bargain for as some will tend to plead for their lives or ask for forgiveness for their sins. Nevertheless, you got to know them!
#2 : Feeling senti-mental? An old crush shows up again and you don’t know what to say (even after seven years they still get you tongue-tied)? Hmmmm…kinda hard to be mushy if you’re not sure of their status. You don’t want to go all-out then find out they’re engaged. So, if you want to get to know someone for the sake of catching up, it helps to think of old things. You can try the movie-famous antics of taking them to a familiar place with familiar music and familiar people and…OMG! Discover both of you have completely change. Scratch that, drive them around and make sure your fuel tank goes empty when you’re a considerable distance from any help. Or take a hike when you know it’s gonna rain. The best way is to find a serial killer who tries to kill both of you but you both eventually escape. That way you’ll have something in common, something you’ll talk about, something that binds you together… MISERY and FEAR!
#3 : TIE THE KNOT! This 3rd tip is especially effective during fairs and carnivals. No, I’m not talking about the marriage booth. You know the jail booth? They have these handcuffs or ropes, you know, something to trap people in. Some even have a make-shift jail cell. Well, nothing like just you and a person (locked for a whole day ‘cause both of you don’t want to pay your bail) alone in a cell or tied together against your will to get to know one another. I mean, c’mon, what else are you going to do when your friends don’t want to help you out ‘cause the cool coaster’s line’s getting longer? The beginning of the conversation could go like this: “Don’t you just hate jail booths and back stabbing friends?”
#4 : TAKE IT SLOW. Ok, fine. This would be the most decent if not the most boring suggestion. Well, it’s boring if it’s on paper, but what happens is dependent on the people involve. Ah yes. Take it slow. First you walk up to them and say “Hi!” you’ll be surprise how many respond to this simple sentence.
And that’s about it. But honestly #1 will probably be the most effective. Just don’t expect that person to reciprocate your desire to get to know them.
